Breaking Ground NL

Breaking Ground NL is a bi-monthly platform for the Dutch filmstudent to present themselves and their films in one of the most well-established venues of the Netherlands: the Louis Hartlooper Complex in Utrecht.

Through the works screened, we offer a selection of the best student films made in the Netherlands. This is the place to screen, enjoy and talk about the future of Dutch filmmaking. Well-known producer Hans de Wolf ('Antonia', 'Katia's Sister, 'Dushka') and the special guest from the film industry will follow-up every film with a q&a, through which a discussion develops between them, the audience and the filmmakers. At the end of every evening, we show an European student film to offer the audience a sneak preview of our other programmes.

Guests at earlier editions were Marina Blok (head of drama department public broadcaster NPS), Jean van de Velde (director 'The Silent Army', 'Wild Romance'), Pieter Fleury (director 'Ramses'), Mijke de Jong (director 'Stages') Pieter Kuijpers (director 'God Forsaken!', 'TBS') and Marieke Mols (script editor VPRO).

After the last film has been screened, we offer the opportunity in the café of the Louis Hartlooper Complex to network and talk about future collaborations with the film makers.

Meet the future of Dutch filmmaking at Breaking Ground NL.
