Breaking Ground is a platform for European new talent. As a platform we have three main activities:

Programming the best student films from all over Europe.
We do this for serveral festivals and events. We can programm exactly by your needs: so for example by a certain theme or only from one specific country or one type of film (animation/fiction etc.). We are collecting all student films made over the past five years and we keep collecting (and screening) them as they are made. So you have the choice of always showing premieres or 'just' the best work made by the upcoming new European film masters.

Organising campusses, workshops, lectures, masterclasses etc.
Besides presenting European's new talent, we also want to give them a chance to meet each other, learn more from professionals and let them practice a little more. This is why we organise campusses, workshops, lectures and masterclasses on other festivals and events as well. For example on Go Short (the new int. film festival for short film) twenty students from all over Europe gathered to participate in a four day campus (read more about this on the Breaking Shorts page on this website).

Connecting students to the professional film industry.
Of course by programming the next generation great European filmmakers and by giving students a change to participate in a workshop by a master we already connect the new talent to the professional industry. But we do more: for example we also provide other festivals with: video libraries of the best student films so scouts can spot fresh filmmakers, special screenings for professionals, events where students can pitch their new films/ideas to the industry, speed-dating sessions etc.
