The Polish documentary Osiemnastka (Eighteenth Birthday) is our pick for NPO Doc in April. It's the second time we've selected a film of director Marta Prus for this programme.

Osiemnastka focusses on Gosia. The day before she turns eighteen, Gosia leaves the campus of the Lodz Youth Educational Center to go back home. Her biggest wish is to organize a birthday party together with her boyfriend and her friends. However, the first meeting with her mother ends up in a heated argument. Like a multi-facet mirror, the film shows the different aspects of the young protagonist’s personality, delicately portraying the anxieties of a difficult adolescence.

Screening times are:

Sunday 6 April at 17.02
Thursday 10 April at 22.50
Friday 11 April at 13.09

From this month on, Holland Doc 24 continues under the new name NPO Doc
