Celebrating 10 Years of LHC with a Special Screening

We're delighted to see The Louis Hartlooper Complex (or simply put: LHC!) reaching and celebrating 10 years of existence. To mark the event, they're organizing a week of special movie screenings between 21-25 of July. Of course, as old friends and former collaborator, Breaking Ground has been invited to prepare an anniversary selection to be screened on July 22nd! Five beautiful student shorts have been chosen for this super special occasion, five movies which you should definitely not miss! Keep an eye on our Facebook event for more details and the complete program!

Brand New Entry System for Breaking Shorts!

Yes, it's that time of year again when we're inviting you to submit your latest student and graduation projects as Go Short (and implicitly Breaking Shorts as well) are officially open for submissions! For a film to be eligible for the Breaking Shorts competition it should be produced at a (geographical) European film school with a length of no more than 40 minutes. Make sure to read the other rules and regulations as well, as this year comes with a brand new system that abolishes the old-fashioned DVDs!

Learn the Best Crowd-Funding Tips&Tricks with CineCrowd Workshop

No longer a novelty act but an actual filmmaking reality, crowd-funding has easily become one of the important things to master when it comes to making movies. For those unfamiliar with the things needed to manage a successful crowd-funding campaign, CineCrowd is organizing a series of workshops and talks with experts on this subject, in Amsterdam on Friday, July 18th. Check out their website for more details.

Links, videos and projections are all great when it comes to our declared purpose of “screening new talent”, but we felt we also needed a place to occasionally post an interview, top 5 or film review related with student shorts. So after Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and Pinterest, we're now attempting to conquer Tumblr too! Hence, we're cordially inviting you to follow us there as well, in order to read exclusive content. And if you like this type of information sharing and are a social media fan, why don't you drop us a line? We might just have the position for you!

The upcoming European film talent we think is worth following. Discover the new Lars von Trier or Pedro Almodóvar.

Films by young filmmakers that caught our eye and we would love for you to see as well.

Breaking Ground unfortunately seized to exist in may 2016. However, here you can still find our past events.
