During her bachelor in Theatre and Film Design at the Rietveld Art Academy Maaike made a number of animated shorts and short videos. For her graduation she decided to combine the two disciplines with ‘Maarten’ as a result

‘Maarten’; ‘A visually stunning and touching portrait of a man with Alzheimer losing his grip on reality. The story is based on a novel by Dutch writer Bernlef’ (Cinestud 2010)

After graduation she worked as a assistent director at Miauw (a production company in Amsterdam)

Since february 2010 she began working as a freelance art director, setdresser and filmmaker. She works for commercials, films and  stop motion projects.
