DESCRIPTION:We present the 6th edition of Breaking Ground NL, this time in collaboration with Cinestud. Our special guest is Jaap van Heusden, director of Win/Win and Andersom. He will discuss and reflect with the guests about the following films:


MAARTEN, Maaike Boorsma, Rietveld Academie. Animation.'Maarten' is a fairytale blend of video and stop motion-animation,
inspired by the roman 'Out of Mind' by Bernlef. About a man who loses his
grip on reality.



STIL LEVEN, Tim de Groot, ARTez. Animation.
"Het leven in een metropool is niet voor iedereen weggelegd. Ondanks dat
iedereen langs elkaar heen leeft, heeft ook ieder mens weer met elkaar te
maken. Daar is geen ontkomen aan. Om te kunnen overleven zal men moeten
'leven en laten leven', en zich moeten aanpassen aan zijn of haar medemens."

A 10 year old girl named Helia goes with her parents on a trip. She meets
the tormented Gijs, who eats everything. They develop a connection because
Gijs isn't as bad as he looks, but his urges of are untamable. Instinct is
a hard thing to change.



IN EEN VERGETEN MOMENT, Menno Otten, NFTA. Documentary.
A documentary in which the filmmakers search for forgotten moments.
Moments in which we come to a standstill, in which we surrender to the
time. Moments in which we seem to forget the world around us and slowly
dive into the unconsciousness. Winner of the Tuschinski Award, selected
for the IDFA Student Competition 2010.



LE BAL DE LA GARE, Augustin Collard, La Femis, Frankrijk. Experimental
animation.
Augustin Collet was an architect before coming to production design at La Fémis in 2005. After having directed short pixilation footages with the pseudo of Amédé Lamidesmouches, he decides to be a production designer and to continue his activity in experimental animation movies.
