Next to the Go Short Campus, Breaking Ground and Go Short present Breaking Shorts. After screening for days in the dark winter period, we selected the best 20 films of Europe's student cinema.Â

Only one film will be the winner of the Breaking Short Award.

The Breaking Shorts Jury will nominate films of the student competition Breaking Shorts on Friday 19 March. The winner of the Breaking Short Award will be announced on Saturday 20 March, during the Award Ceremony.

Bram Schouw (the Netherlands)
Bram Schouw is director at Hazazah Film Amsterdam and directed the award winning commercialsÂ Together We Can andÂ Sensoor. His short filmImpasse (2008) won the NFTVM Vers! Award for young Dutch filmmakers and is still shown worldwide as part of the feature film Stories on Human Rights.

Chris Mouw (the Netherlands)
Chris Mouw studied Film and Television Studies at the University of Utrecht. During her time there she was introduced to il Luster Productions,Â the largest producer for independent animation in the Netherlands. In 2
007, she started working as their festival coordinator. Currently, she is also producer, focusing on the production for animation shorts.Â

Paul Negoescu (Romania)
Paul Negoescu directed several shorts that have been selected andÂ awarded at many international film festivals (Berlinale, Rotterdam, London BFI, Slamdance). His filmÂ Renovation (2009) was nominated at the European Film Academy Awards in 2009. He is also the artistic director of the Timishort Film Festival. Two of his short films are featured in the Romanian focus program Wide Awake.

Best of Go Short at De Balie Amsterdam

There is a place in Holland where you can watch shorts for 5 days...in Nijmegen. Amsterdam citizens panic with the idea of going to Nijmegen. Balie's programmer Dirk van Straaten selected Go Short's best shorts to convince Amsterdam citizens to take the train to Nijmegen to join the Go Short Filmfestival.

The 22nd of March the sixth edition of Breaking Ground NL takes place in Utrecht's Louis Hartlooper Complex. This time we are very proud to welcome director Jaap van Heusden!
He directed Win-Win and Anderman. During Breaking Ground NL he will shine a light on the newest Dutch student films.
