BG's no man's land

Every first Sunday of the month Utrecht (The Netherlands) is under the spell of culture. With a lot of events organised by almost all the cultural organisations based in this city, being bored on a Sunday is history. Every month you can be entertained, moved or inspired at the Culturele Zondagen (Cultural Sundays).

Breaking Ground joins the club on the Cultural Sunday in November and programms interesting European Student Films in the townhall in the middle of Utrecht's city centre.

The theme of November's Cultural Sunday is No man's land and in particular the no man's land twenty years ago in Berlin; the time the wall fell and Europe became one again.

Breaking Ground (probably) offers two programms at this event:

East vs. West

Can we see a difference between the films made by people born 'behind the wall' or the ones born on 'the western site'? Does 'the wall' still influence the films of young filmmakers today? In a programm with both student films from Eastern and Western countries, we will find out.

Films on the theme

Does the future talent look back? Does history still play a role in the theme's of their films? Breaking Ground explores and shows it's results in a programm of interesting films around the subject.

Did you make a (student) film around the fall of the wall, the difference between East or West Europe or something in that direction, that please submit it to Breaking Ground before the first of September!
